His research program examines collaborative intelligent systems that address discriminations experienced by vulnerable social groups. In this research, he examines the promises and perils of Human-AI teams in humanitarian crises contexts. And, how organizations make sense of, navigate, and challenge discriminatory institutional regimes.
He is actively building a global knowledge sharing community around demystifying humanitarian technologies, workflows of tech-assisted collaborative organzations in crises contexts, and conducts workshops and podcasts on these topics.Prior to joining UCL, Shivaang worked as a freelance conflict zone photographer on various projects (WWF-India, New York Times) and co-founded an ecotourism venture in India. He completed his MSc. Management (distinction) at Concordia University, Montreal, Canada.
