Who is this course designed for?

  • APMP is aimed at project managers and aspiring project managers who wish to demonstrate their knowledge of project management at a foundation level.
  • APMP is suitable for both those in the early stages of their project career and also more experienced project managers wishing to gain a formal qualification in project management.
  • Complimentary prior learning is recognised for PRINCE2® Registered Practitioners through a reduced (2-hour) APMP exam.

Course content

What is APMP?

  • APMP (IPMA Level D) is an internationally recognised knowledge-based foundation level qualification, enabling participation in a wide range of projects from individual assignments through to large capital projects.
  • The course is based on the Association for Project Management’s Body of Knowledge (APM BoK) and offers an effective grounding in project management suitable for projects in any industry or the public sector.
  • APMP assesses the candidate’s breadth of knowledge in all areas of project management, from strategic and commercial implications, to the technical, organisational, and people management skills required to participate effectively within a project team.

Course Programme

Our intensive APMP course is run over 5 days (Monday - Friday), plus a three-hour examination taken ten days later. The examination is preceded by an optional post-revision 3-hour Examination Preparation Session. A two-hour paper is available for PRINCE2® Registered Practitioners.

Examination Preparation Session

A 3-hour APMP Examination Preparation Session running in the morning before the APMP examination in the afternoon. This post-revision session is tutor-led and designed for those who have already completed our APMP course and their revision for the exam.  Advice will be provided on APM exam technique and candidates will be given the opportunity to test their knowledge with practice questions under exam conditions, receiving individual feedback and guidance.   The cost of the 3-hour APMP Examination Preparation Session is £275 (refreshments and sandwich lunch included).

Entry Requirements

APMP is aimed at those with up to two years’ project management experience. There are no formal entry requirements.

Fees (APMP Course and Examination)

£1,795 (inclusive of examination fee).

A reduced rate of £1,595 is available for multiple bookings. Reduced fees are also available for UCL alumni and staff.

Please note that there is no VAT payment in addition to the prices quoted.

The fee includes all tuition, course manual, refreshments during teaching sessions, lunches Monday - Friday and the examination fee.

Is the Project Management Course a Professional Course?

Yes. The course has been accredited by the Association for Project Management (APM) and follows their published APMP syllabus. Delegates who take the examination at the end of the course are eligible for free registration when applying for membership of the Association.

What is the examination?

The APMP qualification is a three hour written essay-based paper. The examination is designed to test the candidate’s knowledge of project management. The candidate has the choice of ten questions from sixteen.

Must the examination be sat straight after the end of the course?

No, there is the option to defer the exam to a later date.

What happens if I fail?

You are allowed to resit the examination; a resit fee will be charged.

Where are the courses held?

Courses are held at UCL in our School’s Executive Education Training Suite.

What is the cost of the course?

£1,795 (inclusive of exam). If two or more participants from one company attend any one course the cost is £1,595. Reduction also available for UCL alumni and staff. Please note that there is no VAT payment in addition to the prices quoted as UCL is VAT exempt.

What is included?

All tuition, course manual, refreshments during teaching sessions, lunches Monday - Friday and the examination fee.

What is not included?

Overnight accommodation charges are not included. Due to the highly intensive nature of the course, delegates may wish to consider staying in or near central London. A list of hotels with UCL specially negotiated rates can be provided on request.

The cost of the optional post-revision Examination Preparation Session is not included. 

What is the benefit of the optional post-revision Examination Preparation Session?

The opportunity for candidates to test their knowledge with practice questions under exam conditions and to receive individual feedback and guidance. Candidates’ responses to questions have been shown to have improved considerably by the end of the session.

What is the cost of the Examination Preparation Session?

£275 (inclusive and refreshments and sandwich lunch).

What payment methods are available?

Payment is required before registration will be confirmed. We accept payment by credit/debit card (not American Express). Invoices will be provided on request but since UCL is VAT exempt these will not contain a VAT element.
