The IMB University Challenge 2026 brought together current students and alumni from UCL School of Management’s BSc Information Management for Business programme for an exciting evening of trivia, friendly competition, and rich conversation. The event took place on Tuesday 27 January on Level 50 of One Canada Square, marking another memorable chapter in the IMB community calendar.
This year’s challenge was as competitive as ever. Teams of alumni fought hard to reclaim the trophy they narrowly lost last year, and our student competitors rose to the test with impressive breadth and depth of knowledge. In the end, the students successfully defended their title, retaining the IMB University Challenge crown — but not without giving our alumni an excellent run for their money.
As with the first IMB University Challenge in 2025, the quiz covered diverse topics and encouraged spirited competition across generations of the IMB network. Following the quiz rounds, the atmosphere shifted into one of warm connection as students, alumni, and staff continued conversations over drinks and canapés, with a dash of magic from our very own IMB Magician, against the iconic backdrop of Canary Wharf.
The evening was a big success both socially and professionally. Many attendees reported meaningful exchanges that went far beyond the quiz questions — from career discussions and industry insights to new collaborations and LinkedIn connections. These interactions captured the spirit of the event: combining fun with genuine opportunities to build relationships that support both student growth and alumni engagement.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated, whether in the competition or as part of the enthusiastic audience. The turnout, energy, and engagement from both students and alumni helped make the night a great success — reinforcing the vibrancy of the IMB community here at UCL.
After two memorable events in a row — including the inaugural University Challenge in 2025, which was celebrated as a night of knowledge and networking with new professional connections formed throughout the evening — we’re already looking forward to the third IMB University Challenge next year. If this year’s event is anything to go by, it promises to be even bigger and more exciting, continuing our mission to connect students and alumni in meaningful and enjoyable ways.
