Biography

Prof. Tom Kwon is an Assistant Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at UCL School of Management, where he teaches courses on strategies of technological innovation. His research focuses on technology strategy and industry emergence, examining how firms adapt their innovation strategies under high uncertainty in nascent industries, including autonomous vehicles and robotics.

Prof. Kwon’s research has been selected as a Best PhD Paper Finalist at the Strategic Management Society Annual Conference and recognized with the Will Mitchell Dissertation Research Grant from the Strategic Management Society, the Greif Entrepreneurship Research Award, and the Ph.D. Fellowship for Best Dissertation from USC Marshall School of Business. His teaching has been recognized with a Teaching Excellence Award at USC Marshall.

Prof. Kwon earned his PhD degree in the Department of Management and Organization at USC Marshall School of Business. Prior to his first doctoral degree at USC, he earned his first PhD in Industrial Engineering at Seoul National University, specializing in technology management. He received his MS and BS in Electrical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, with a minor in Management and Entrepreneurship.
