UCL SoM's Joost Rietveld appointed as Associate Program Chair at SMS

We are thrilled to share the news that Joost Rietveld, Associate Professor at UCL School of Management, has been elected as the Associate Program Chair for the Competitive Strategy Interest Group at the Strategic Management Society (SMS).

Reflecting on this appointment, Joost shares:

“It’s an honour to be elected in the leadership track at the Strategic Management Society. In my position as Associate Program Chair for the Competitive Strategy Interest Group I will be able to shape the academic conversation about strategy and competition; two topics that are dear to me and of ever-increasing relevance in today’s world of antitrust regulation and digital platforms.“

Joost’s expertise lies at the intersection of technology strategy and innovation management. His research investigates the dynamics of inter-organisational relationships, focusing on their impact on product-level outcomes within the realms of platform-complementor relationships, alliances, and mergers and acquisitions. His fascination with digitisation fuels exploration into pioneering business models like freemium and multi-sided platforms.

Assuming the role of Associate Program Chair for the Competitive Strategy IG at SMS, Joost’s leadership is poised to invigorate and steer discussions within the domain of competitive strategy.
