Students win first place at ITMB national conference

BSc Information Management for Business (IMB) students pitched their ideas to leading employers at the recent ITMB North Event in Manchester, with successful results.

UCL student teams competed against 16 UK universities to win both first and second place in the First Year competition and first place in the Final Year competition.

First Year teams were asked to develop innovative technology ideas for the 2016 Olympics in order to improve the spectator experience. UCL teams presented wrist watch style Olympic tickets and virtual reality demonstrations to the employer judges including IBM, Cisco and Hewlett Packard. Final Year teams were given the challenge to develop business ideas around AI.

Richard Pettinger, Programme Director of IMB at UCL School of Management said: “The feedback and recognition our students received from employers has been very encouraging. In the lead up to the competition, our student teams worked extremely well to analyse the brief, pitch their ideas and create technological solutions.”

The winning teams were awarded £500, with runners-up receiving £300.
