Former MSc TE students create unique Android app for House of Fraser

House of Fraser, a leading UK premium department store group, has launched an Android app powered by the Poq Studio - http://poqstudio.com - platform, a startup company founded by former MSc Technology Entrepreneurship students Oyvind Henriksen and Michael Langguth. The app fuses the retailer’s online and offline worlds and guides shoppers at every step of their journey, including in store.

When a customer enters a store, the app layout changes. A barcode scanner unlocks additional information about in-store items, including product reviews and store stock levels for certain variations of the product, such as sizes or colours. Effectively, when customers discover an item they like in-store, but the size or colour they prefer is not on display, they can check whether it is in stock at that particular store. If it’s not, they can find out at which other stores they can get the item, or order it via the app and have it delivered to over 130 countries.

House of Fraser commented: “We are extremely pleased with the design and functionality of the app, especially the ability it has given us to innovate on top of a stable e-commerce platform, giving us the flexibility to make changes to the app without requiring any additional bespoke development. We look forward to continuing the relationship with Poq Studio to create many more world-class apps.”
