Sofia Kalaykova

Biography

Sofia Kalaykova is a second-year undergraduate student studying Management Science at the UCL School of Management.

Drawn to the programme for its unique combination of analytical and creative modules, Sofia found that Management Science aligned perfectly with her A-Level background in Maths, Psychology, and Art. The programme’s flexibility and practical focus appealed to her desire to explore a range of career paths while building a strong, transferable skillset.

Since joining the UCL School of Management, Sofia has developed confidence in her quantitative abilities through modules in maths and programming, while also discovering a passion for collaborative, people-focused work. She particularly enjoyed scenario-based learning, including a consulting project with DHL, where she presented to senior executives and learned the value of teamwork and trusting in others’ strengths.

Beyond the classroom, Sofia has actively explored her interests by attending industry events such as the UK AI Summit, where she gained valuable insights and began building her professional network. These experiences have reinforced her interest in continuous learning and connecting with people from diverse fields. Sofia has also been involved in a variety of student societies, including tennis, dance, Polish, Bulgarian, and art. While she prioritised her studies and friendships, she values societies as a great way to meet people and explore new interests.

Looking ahead, Sofia is focused on developing her skills and network to find a career path that aligns with her strengths and passions - one where she can continue learning, collaborating, and making an impact.
