Following one of their four Scenario Weeks, students on the BSc/MSci Management Science programme demonstrated the real‑world impact of their data‑driven thinking, with two outstanding teams earning an exclusive invitation to an Insight Programme at Infosys, a global leader in digital services and consulting. As a result of their winning solution, 10 students were selected to take part in this distinctive industry experience, highlighting the strength of the programme’s applied, practice‑based approach to learning.
Scenario Weeks are a fundamental part of the assessment strategy on the BSc/MSci Management Science programme and encourage students to work in teams to find solutions to real issues facing businesses today. This particular Scenario Week, led by Associate Professor Matthew M. Jones, focused on making sense of large, complex and incomplete data and tasked students with making decisions based on evidenced arguments and – more importantly – communicating their thoughts effectively with a variety of data visualisations and rational narrative building.
After impressing Infosys during the Scenario Week with their effective solution, a group of 10 students were then invited to take part in an innovative insight week held at the Infosys headquarters in London. Throughout the week, students enjoyed a number of insightful sessions and workshops led by the Infosys team, including those on AI, marketing, cyber security and go-to-market strategy.
Taking place from 13–17 April, the Infosys Insight Programme also provided an opportunity for Management Science faculty to attend, ensuring that the programme’s curriculum aligns with industry needs and expectations.
Reflecting on the opportunities for Management Science students, Matt Jones said: “Working with our talented and creative students during Scenario Weeks is one of the highlights of the year for me. The opportunities available to students to work on real-life projects is an invaluable part of the Management Science programme, and working with colleagues from Infosys provides an important authenticity to the students that enhances the work they do, their motivation, and their confidence in applying data‑driven thinking to real business decisions. It was a pleasure to host the Infosys team and we are truly grateful for the opportunity for the winning students to visit the Infosys offices for the Insight Week.”
This sentiment was echoed by Sachin Jangam, Partner at Infosys Consulting, who said: “At Infosys Consulting, we strongly believe in engaging early with future talent and giving students first-hand exposure to how consulting works in the real world. Guided by our C-LIFE values, the Insight Week with students from UCL created a collaborative learning environment where students worked closely with industry experts, conducted applied research, and translated academic thinking into practical business recommendations. We were impressed by their curiosity, quality of ideas, and eagerness to learn, and we look forward to continuing our strong partnership with UCL.”
