Tom Taiyi Yan named in Poets&Quants Best 40-Under-40 MBA Professors 2025 list

We are thrilled to share that UCL School of Management Assistant Professor Tom Taiyi Yan 闫太一 has been named one of the best 40-Under-40 MBA Professors in the world by Poets&Quants.

Released annually, the list celebrates and recognises the most talented young professors who are currently teaching on MBA programmes across the globe. This year, Poets&Quants received more than 1,700 nominations from students, colleagues, administrators and professors themselves, and evaluated each nominee on the strength of their teaching and research.

Tom is currently an Assistant Professor within UCL School of Management’s Department of Organisation and Innovation and his research specialises in interpersonal and inter-team competition as well as gender disparities and subsequent organisational intervention.

Tom has published his work in an array of publications, including the Journal of Applied Psychology, Organizational Science and Psychological Bulletin. He currently teaches the MSIN0119 Organisational Behaviour and Leadership module on the UCL MBA with Peking University and developed the in-person MSIN0194 Leading Global Teams module on the UCL MBA in Global Management.

Discussing his incredible achievement, Tom said, ‘Many scholars I look up to have been featured in this list, so I’m beyond thrilled to be included. Huge thanks to my students and colleagues who took the time to vote for me. UCL has been an incredibly fulfilling place to teach and I hope we can continue to make it ever more exciting for our wonderful students!’

Tom joins a prestigious list of UCL School of Management faculty members who have previously been recognised by Poets&Quants. Associate Professors Yiting Deng, Blaine Landis, Chia-Jung Tsay, Ersin Korpeoglu and Joshua Becker have also featured in Best 40-Under-40 MBA professors and Best 40-Under-40 Business School Professors lists.
