Description

On Tuesday 24 March, UCL School of Management will host an exclusive, invite-only event to celebrate the official launch of Professor Anthony Klotz’s latest book, Jolted.

Inspired by his prediction of the Great Resignation, a sudden and sustained global surge of people quitting their jobs, Jolted explores the science behind why people choose to leave or stay in a job. Anthony introduces the concept of jolts: defining moments, shaped by both internal and external factors, that prompt people to rethink their careers. Combining cutting-edge research with real-world stories, the book uncovers the different types of jolts that shape our professional lives and provides a practical roadmap to help readers respond wisely, protect their wellbeing, and build more meaningful careers.

Anthony is a Professor of Organisational Behavior at UCL School of Management in London. Anthony’s research focuses on understanding employees’ relationship with work, through the lenses of resignations, citizenship behavior, and biophilic design. His research is regularly published in top management journals, and he has written for Harvard Business Review, the Wall Street Journal, and MIT Sloan Management Review. Anthony is currently an Associate Editor at Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes. Anthony is also known for having coined the phrase “The Great Resignation” in an interview with Bloomberg Businessweek in May 2021. He has discussed the current state and future of work with media outlets including CNN, The Today Show, the New York Times, and the BBC, and with executive teams at numerous Fortune 100 organisations.
